Readers Groups

If you love reading and would like the chance to talk about books in an informal and friendly environment then we can help.

Many of our libraries have readers' groups that meet once a month. Our groups read a wide range of fiction, with the Central Library running groups specifically for readers of large print and science fiction.

Library Readers' Groups:

Regular library-led readers' groups are held at the following libraries:

Central, Dinnington, Kimberworth, Maltby, Rawmarsh, Swinton, and Wickersley

Other Readers' Groups:

The Aston Readers' Group meet on the first Wednesday of the month, 7.30pm-8.30pm at the William Layne Reading Room, Aston.  Contact the Parish Rooms on (01142) 879008.

Woodsetts Readers' Group meet on the first Monday of the month 7pm - 8.30pm (except Bank Holidays) in Woodsetts Village Hall. The group is run by Monica Carroll who can be contacted via Dinnington Library (01909) 562329.

Start your own Readers' Group

If you can't get to any of these groups, why not start up your own readers' group?  All you need is a group of like-minded people and a commitment to read and meet up regularly - drinks and nibbles are optional!

We can help you by offering some initial support and advice, and your group will be able to take advantage of our Readers' Set Service, where you can borrow multiple copies of the same book.

You can contact the reader development team on: (01709) 815123
