We provide all the comprehensive training and support you need to excel at being a foster carer.

Our training is designed to:

  • Give you the skills, knowledge and confidence to be an outstanding foster carer
  • Improve your knowledge and skills and help you to promote the physical, social and emotional development of children and young people
  • Establish an explicit, positive framework of values, which promotes equality of opportunity
  • Encourage you to reflect and look at the effect of discrimination in all parts of the community, recognising that you are caring for children in the context of a wider society and that discrimination is a fact of everyday life for many children
  • Ensure that you are competent and confident in safe caring and protecting children from harm
  • Encourage you to take responsibility for your own professional development through the creation of individual training profiles

In addition, we are committed to supporting you to receive formal recognition of your skills, knowledge and experience if you want to do so. There are limited places available each year for carers who want to study towards and achieve a nationally-recognised award.
