Processing new claims and change events

Our Service Standard is that we will aim to process an average of all Housing Benefit and Council Tax Benefit claims and change events within 12 working days of them being received.

Our target for the current financial year is for our performance in this area to be in the top 25% percent of the 36 Metropolitan Authorities against which our performance is measured.

Reconsiderations and revisions

We aim to look into your request to reconsider or revise our decision regarding your benefits as quickly as possible.

Our target is to notify you of the outcome within 4 weeks in a minimum of 85% of such cases.

We aim submitt your appeal against our decision to the Tribuneral Service as quickly as possible.

Our target is make submissions within 4 weeks in a minimum of 90% of such cases.

Neighbourhood benefit officers

We currently employ two Neighbourhood Benefit Officers who visit customers with the aim of maximising benefit take up particularly amongst vulnerable groups in the community.

So far in the current financial year we have secured an additional £651,962.78 in additional benefits for our customers.
