Building Control Advice and Guidance
What is building control?
If you are intending to erect a new building, extend an existing building or make internal or external alterations, in most cases building regulation approval will be required from a Building Control Body.
The Building Regulations are the national minimum standards set by the Government for the design and construction of buildings to ensure the health and safety of people using or living near buildings.
They also include requirements to ensure that fuel and power are conserved and facilities provided so everyone can access and move around buildings.
The Council is responsible for administering and enforcing the Building Regulations within the Rotherham area.
