Business rates - ways to pay
You can pay in ten monthly instalments, April to January. (Or in 12 instalments by direct debit only) Alternatively, you can pay in one annual payment before the end of April or in two half-yearly payments, half by the end of April and the other half by the end of September.
Note: Monthly instalments cannot be lower than £50 per instalment, where this would occur, your number of instalments is reduced until the instalments become greater than £50
There are several options for paying, choose the most convenient way for you.
1) By direct debit
Direct Debit is the easiest and cheapest method of making payment. When you pay by Direct Debit you are automatically covered by the Direct Debit guarantee.
Direct debit payers can now pay over 10 or 12 instalments on any of the three available payment dates (5th, 20th, 27th).

2) Over the counter
You can pay at any of our Customer Service Centres - in cash, by cheque, by debit card, by credit card, postal order or money order.
3) By post
By cheque, postal order or money orders. Do not post cash. Send your payments to:

All cheques should be made payable to: Rotherham M.B.C. it is essential that your account reference, name and address should be submitted with each payment.
A receipt will not be issued unless specifically requested. If you obtain a receipt, please keep it safely. A hand written receipt on a payment slip is not a valid receipt.
You are advised not to pay by Bank or Post Office Giro as delays in the Council receiving your payment may lead to additional costs being incurred.
4) At the bank or post office
You can pay at any Bank, but the Bank may charge a fee for this service.
You can pay at the Post Office, Please quote Rotherham Borough Council - Giro Number 6072011 and your Business Rate account number. A fee will be charged for this service.
Please remember when paying at the Bank or Post Office it will take several days for the payment to reach us so please pay well in advance of the due day.
5) Armchair/telephone banking
If you want to use this service then contact your bank. You should arrange to pay Rotherham Borough Council - Co-operative Bank plc. Sort code 08-90-87, account number 61180354, quoting your business rate account number and also your name and address.
6). Debit card or credit card
Debit and credit card payments can be made online or on the automated telephone line - (01709) 336810. Please ensure you have your Business Rate account number and card details available.
