Council Tax - Recovery

Council Tax - Reminders and Final Notices

If you miss a payment we will start recovery action and it is therefore important that you contact us immediately if you are having difficulty maintaining payments.

Reminder

If you don't pay an instalment by the due date we will send you a Reminder. You must ensure that you make the requested payment immediately. If we don't receive requested payment within 7 days of the date on the reminder, a summons may be issued for a Magistrates Court hearing which may incur additional costs up to £74.00.

Only two reminders will be issued in any financial year.

Final Notice

If after receiving two reminders and paying off the amounts requested, you fall into arrears for a third time a Final Notice will be issued and you will have lost your right to pay by instalments.

If we don't receive requested payment within 7 days of the date on the Final Notice a summons may be issued for a Magistrates Court hearing which may incur additional costs up to £74.00.

Can I change the date on which my monthly instalment is due?

We currently offer a choice of payment dates - 6th, 13th, 20th and 27th of each month. If you wish to change your instalment date please contact us to request this.
