From 1st April 2016, you will have to pay full Council Tax on an empty and unfurnished property.

However, under certain circumstances, there may be an exemption applicable. For example, if the owner of a house has died, Council Tax isn't charged for up to six months after you get probate (your legal right to sell the home)
