An alcohol free childhood is the healthiest and best option your child. If they drink alcohol it should not be until at least the age of 15.
If young people aged 15 -17 consume alcohol it should always be with the guidance of a parent of carer or in a supervised environment. They should do so no more than one day a week. Young people aged 15-17 should never exceed recommended adult daily limits. On days when they drink, consumption should be below these levels.
If young people are under the influence of alcohol or other substances they may do things they would not usually do. They could become vulnerable to accidents, violent incidents and the risk of sexual exploitation.
