What you can expect from us . . .

If your neighbourhood is affected by poor quality housing and has been identified for change, the Council (01709 334968) will:
- Give you the opportunity to contribute and shape the Housing Strategy
- Listen to your views and involve you at the decision making stages
- Provide feedback following consultation

Our Regeneration Programme will:

• Provide you with a six monthly update so you are kept informed on projects you are involved in. (new standard)

In some circumstances, demolition of homes will be identified to make way for better quality homes and facilities.  If you are affected, we will:

• Contact you by letter within 3 working days of the decision to demolish your property.   Our current performance is 100%
• Talk you through the process step by step during a one to one visit. This visit will be arranged within 16 working days of you receiving your letter. Our current performance is 100%
• Assess your housing need in relation to re-housing proposals and make you aware of your options within 16 working days of the decision being made.  Our current performance is 95%
• For home owners, provide an independent valuation, arranged with your approval, within 1 week of your home visit.  Our current performance is 100%

If you contact us about the energy efficiency of your home we will:

• Ask you questions to understand your circumstances whether you or your house would be eligible for a grant for loft insulation, cavity wall, external cladding or solar panels.  (new standard)
• Immediately provide you with information and sign post you to other organisations who can carry the work out for you or give further advice.  (new standard)

Key Fact:   By March 2011, we will deliver 77 brand new council homes in Rotherham and all of these properties will meet Code for Sustainable Homes Level 4.
