Childrens Book Week
Children's Book Week
Children's Book Week is a celebration of reading for pleasure for children of primary school age that has been running for the past 80 years.
Schools, libraries and other venues all over the UK hold events and activities to celebrate reading for pleasure.
We want to encourage children (and adults too) that reading is not only a way to open up new doorways of choices but it is also a great source of enjoyment whether you like to read alone or share your reading and thoughts with others in a group.
During Children's Book week we ran a quick poll to discover what your favourite reads were. Roald Dahl proved to be a continuing favourite, overall winner with his Revolting Rhymes. Several more of his books also made a showing but other popular authors included Daisy Meadows, Adam Blade and Jeff Kinney. For the under 5s Rod Campbell and Julia Donaldson came out top with old favourites Dear Zoo and the Gruffalo.
