Staying safe on library computers

All our library sites have computers available for anyone to use for free. We provide access to the internet, office software, photo editing software, scanning and printing facilities (charges apply).

To get online on a library computer:

  • Under 16s need a parent or guardian's permission
  • Under 8s need a parent or guardian to sit with them

All customers have to agree to follow the terms and conditions set out in the library's acceptable use policy before being allowed to use the computers.

If you are a library member, you can book a computer online with your card number and PIN. Otherwise, please call or visit your nearest library to book a computer.

Online safety

Our computers use filtering software to help reduce the risk of your child accessing inappropriate content, but please be aware that this is not 100 percent effective. It remains your responsibility to talk to your child about the internet, although we do have advice here to help you.

If you do not want your child to have internet access please speak to a member of staff so that we can change their membership to reflect this.

Our younger users will have to work through the library's online CyberSafe guide before being allowed to use the internet in the library.
