See how we protect natural habitats and wildlife

The Rotherham Biodiversity Action Plan identifies the priorities for the conservation and enhancement of our local wildlife and natural habitats. It builds on the work of previous decades to set challenging but necessary new targets for the protection and restoration of our natural environment.

The Action Plan is produced by the Rotherham Biodiversity Forum, a partnership of naturalists, landowners, conservationists and Council officers.

The plan focuses on the conservation and expansion of natural habitats, which will in turn support wildlife species protection. The Forum partners will continue to develop the delivery of the Habitat Action Plans and will identify important and vulnerable species that may require their own action.
