Performance & Customer Surveys

We strive to improve each year in meeting targets set out for determining applications within the set time. Currently the Government's standard for making a decision on a planning application is 60% of Major applications within 13 weeks, 65% of Minor applications within 8 weeks and 80% of Other applications including general household extensions etc within 8 weeks.

The graph below illustrates our performance from 2004/2005 onwards in respect of these targets as compared with the national average. 

The graph indicates a stepped improvement in the performance of the Development Control section over the last six years and last year this resulted in us being within the top quartile of all Local Planning Authorities for the speed of determining planning applications for Minor and Other applications and within the top 10% for determining Major applications within 13 weeks.

Customer Satisfaction

Results of customer surveys are available to download below. We are always willing to listen to feedback in order to improve our service. Examples of comments and subsequent improvements to the service made are contained within the results.

Note that up until 2009 only applicants and agents making applications were surveyed regarding the planning process. In 2009 we decided to find out the views of other individuals involved in the planning process and the survey was extended to include neighbours notified in conjunction with the application.
