Affordable Housing

The Council works with its Housing Association partners to deliver affordable homes on Local Authority owned land. Forthcoming schemes have received funding from the Homes and Communities Agencies’ National Affordable Housing Programme.

Barbers Avenue, Rawmarsh

Currently 25 new Council homes are being built on this site. They will be completed in February 2016 and advertised through Keychoices in the New Year. Priority will be given to existing Council tenants who wish to move and are in Housing need. There will be 7 x 2 bedroom houses, 14 x 3 bedroom houses, 3 x 2 bedroom bungalows for those over 55 years of age and 1 x 3 or 4 bedroom adapted bungalow, which is suitable for a family with a disabled family member

Elgar Drive, Maltby

Planning approval has not yet been granted for this scheme, but the proposal is that 18 new homes will be built on this site. It is proposed that 3 x 2 bedroom bungalows for the over 55’s, 9 x 2 bedroom houses and 6 x 3 bedroom houses will be built. Work should begin on site at the end of 2016 and the homes will be completed by March 2018. South Yorkshire Housing Association will build these new homes.

Redscope Crescent, Kimberworth

Mears Group – the Council’s maintenance partner are building two new 3 bedroom adapted bungalows on a former garage site. These new Council houses will be allocated to people with a disabled family member. Work is on-going on site and the bungalows should be completed in February 2016.

Wadsworth Road, Bramley

Wilmott Dixon – the Council’s maintenance partner are building two new 3 bedroom adapted bungalows on this site. Work will begin on site at the end of 2015 and it is anticipated that the homes will be completed in September 2016.

Aston Close, Swallownest

Work has been progressing on site to complete the 12 new homes by December 2016. The development consists of 8 x 2 bedroom houses and 4 x 3 bedroom houses. Great Places Housing Association are building these new homes.

Brameld Road, Wath-upon-Dearne & Brookfield Avenue, Swinton

These two sites are a linked development, which will be built by Arches Housing Association. The cleared Brameld Road site will have 25 new homes built on it. They are 12 x 2 bedroom houses, 3 x 3 bedroom houses, 7 x 2 bedroom bungalows, designated for those over 55, 1 x 3 bedroom wheelchair adapted bungalow and 2 x 2 bedroom wheelchair adapted bungalows. The adapted bungalows will only be allocated to those with a disabled family member who require this type of accommodation. At Brookfield Avenue in Swinton 2 x 2 bedroom houses will be built out.
