Brownfield Register Pilot Scheme

In 2016 Rotherham Council joined the Government’s pilot scheme to develop a Brownfield Register. The purpose of this is to test the Government’s draft policy on Brownfield Registers.

The Council has published the pilot Brownfield Register which provides information on previously developed sites within Rotherham that are suitable for housing (subject to planning permission) as at 31 March 2017.

The Government has now introduced a requirement that all Council’s must publish a Brownfield Register by 31 December 2017. For clarity the Brownfield Register available at present has been produced as part of the Pilot programme and as such does not meet the full requirements now set out in Government guidance. The Council will in due course prepare a Brownfield Register in line with the new requirements.
