Private Sector Housing Investment

The Council provides help and support to homeowners, landlords and tenants living in private housing.

Who we are:

The Council has established a Private Sector Renewal Working Group consisting of members of staff from different business units to deal effectively with matters affecting Private Sector Housing.

Work has been focused upon identifying the gaps in service provision and developing the Private Sector Investment Plan.

What we do:

• Provide advice and information to homeowners, landlords and private sector tenants across the Borough
• Provide assistance to vulnerable homeowners to help them to repair and improve their home
• Carry out regeneration schemes
• Help disabled people to remain living in their own home
• Encourage owners of empty houses to bring their property back into use
• Encourage landlords to improve the physical and management standards of privately rented houses
• Promote the private rented sector as a tenure of choice
• Provide everyone with the opportunity to live in a Decent home

We work in partnership with the Key Choices Property Management team who are specialist in private rented property management. Their aim is to offer the widest possible choice of properties to tenants and improve the standard of Private Rented Accommodation.
