Section 251 Education Budget and Outturn Statements
Local Authorities are required under section 251 of the Apprenticeship, Skills, Children and Learning Act 2009 (previously Section 52 of the Schools Standards and Framework Act 1998) to prepare a budget statement, showing planned expenditure for education within Rotherham for each financial year. After the end of that financial year they are required to prepare an outturn statement showing how the money was spent.
Purpose of Financial Statements
Local Authorities have a statutory duty to publish their budget statements. It is intended to provide a clear picture of the authorities spending on school budgets, other education budgets and other children's social services. It also includes details on how much funding has been centrally retained.
