Housing support for vulnerable adults
Most of us want to live independently in our own homes. But many people need some help and support.
The Supporting People programme offers vulnerable people the opportunity to improve their quality of life by providing a stable environment which will give them greater independence.
It delivers high quality, housing-related support services which are affordable, reliable and complement existing care services.
The Supporting People programme covers housing related support services.
These services aim to:
- Develop an individual's capacity to live independently or sustain their capacity to do so
- Help to expand the tenancy choices for people. This includes people who might be in care or in danger of becoming homeless
- Provide immediate refuge
It does not cover care, personal support or housing management.
Supporting People is a working partnership of local government, service users and support agencies.
You can contact many of the services directly for help. There is a cost for some of these services but, if you are entitled to Housing Benefit, we will cover the cost providing you give permission for your Housing Benefit entitlement to be checked.
