Walking for transport
We want people to use cars less for shorter trips and walk and cycle more. Along with the NHS, we also want to help tackle obesity and other preventable illnesses by encouraging people to increase their daily physical activity.
How this contributes to the shared priorities
- Congestion - by reducing the number of car trips.
- Accessibility - by encouraging use of footpaths and rights of way.
- Air Quality - by encouraging non-motorised trips.
- Road Safety - by reducing the number of cars on the road.

There are also town centre trails highlighting the history and heritage of the town. See the Heritage Trails page.
