What is the A57 scheme?

The A57 Improvement Scheme will improve the existing A57 Worksop Road-Sheffield Road from the termination of the dual carriageway to the east of junction 31 of the M1 to a point approximately 400m east of Todwick crossroads, and aims to improve safety and access, and reduce congestion and delay.

The route will be improved from a single carriageway to a dual two lane carriageway and will be predominantly on the line of the existing route. A roundabout will be constructed to the north of the existing traffic signal controlled crossroads at the junction of the A57 and the B6463 Todwick Road. The Scheme design also gives consideration to access to local properties and the provision of public transport facilities.
