Garden waste

Another change we are considering is the introduction of a small charge, of perhaps £40 per year, if you choose to have your garden waste collected. If you do not wish to have your garden waste collected by the council, you would not pay the charge.

Councils do not legally have to collect garden waste separately and these changes would bring the Council in line with what other councils are doing already. Two thirds of councils already charge for providing garden waste collections.

Under the proposals, garden waste collections would then be collected all year round rather than the current seven months of the year, with fortnightly collections through the summer months and monthly collections during the winter.

If you choose to sign up to the service, you would receive a new brown 240 litre garden waste wheeled bin.
