Why we are consulting

Since public health moved to the Council we have continued improving the services and getting best value for money.

The government are reducing the amount of money it gives us for these services and we need to address the shortfall. They have cut £1.3 million from the grant this year (2016/17) with further cuts each year until 2020.

This year’s cuts are covered by our reserve budget, staffing efficiencies and small reductions in contract values. But, the grant keeps reducing, so we are unable to keep filling the gap in Public Health funding.

We need to find ways to spend less on Public Health while maintaining a good level of service and continuing to try to improve our residents’ health.

We need your ideas to help us prioritise the services we will deliver in the future. Your view is important to us as part of a wider consultation process.
