The current position
The Council made its Final Recommendations on the Review at its Annual Meeting on 23 May 2018. These included the creation of a new parish for Waverley with a parish council, to be known as Waverley Community Council. There would be elections to the new parish council and to Catcliffe and Orgreave Parish Councils in May 2019 and the councillors elected would serve until May 2024. The Local Government Boundary Commission for England gave their consent to the making of an Order implementing the Final Recommendations on 7 June 2018.
The next step is for the Council to decide whether to implement the Final Recommendations by making an Order, which would include a figure for the budget of the new parish council for 2019/20 because the budget and Council Tax precept have to be decided before the election of the new councillors in May 2019.
The Council will be making its decision at its meeting on 27 June 2018.
