The Community Protection Unit has two Dog Wardens that cover the whole of Rotherham. Their role is to collect stray dogs reported to the Council and reunite them with their owners. If this is not possible they are taken to the kennels used by the Council to be collected.
Our dog wardens are very approachable and proactive in their role and are keen to assist wherever possible. The dog wardens promote neutering of animals and responsible pet ownership and may be able to provide assistance to residents to prevent unwanted litters. The dog wardens work closely with South Yorkshire Police, RSPCA and local charities to protect the welfare of animals throughout the borough.
Remember a pet (including a dog) is for life not just for Christmas!
