Relocation of Archives and Local Studies
Rotherham Borough Council is carrying out a programme of work to modernise and improve the services we provide to customers and, as part of this programme, Rotherham Archives and Local Studies service is relocating to new premises.
Preparing for the move will, unfortunately, entail a temporary suspension of the services we offer, in order that staff can reorganise and package resources, and ensure the efficient transfer of the service from the Central Library to its new home.
During this period, the searchroom will be closed, and no enquiry service will be available, either by email, post or telephone. Given this, we are asking customers if they would be kind enough to resubmit any enquiries six months from the date of their original enquiry.
If you are enquiring about making a donation, there is currently a moratorium on collecting new material, as we are in the middle of packaging and moving our collection.
We would be grateful if you would contact us about your donation again in six months time, at which stage we will be in a position to appraise the document.
If, for any reason, you are unable to hold onto the item for six months please contact us immediately, and we will attempt to get a decision, as to whether we would be able to add the item to our collection, as soon as possible.
Rotherham Archives and Local Studies service appreciate that the unavoidable closure of the service will impact on the local history and family history research projects of many of our customers, and we are grateful for their patience and understanding of the challenges involved in the efficient transition of the service, and we are committed to reopening the service as soon as possible
