Summer Reading Challenge

We are delighted that we saw an increase in the number of children involved in this year's Circus Stars Summer Reading Challenge. Nearly 10% more children than last year got involved and we had an amazing total of 1,498 who finished the six book reading challenge. We also had a number of young volunteers working alongside staff to help deliver the activities and support the reading challenge. As one member of staff commented about their volunteer helper: "She was excellent - very enthusiastic and helpful."

The theme for next year is still to be revealed but it has been announced that the Summer Reading Challenge will be included in the Cultural Olympiad London 2012 Festival. The aim is for one million children to take part in the 2012 Summer Reading Challenge across the country. Our aim in Rotherham is to make the Summer Reading Challenge even more enjoyable for local children.

Schools Library Service

The Schools Library Service is a subscription service for primary schools, special schools and nurseries in the borough.

We can support your school in raising attainment by providing high quality resources and advice on all aspects of school libraries.
