Horse Riding
Rotherham has some lovely countryside that can be explored on horseback. A special pack of suitable routes is available free of charge from the Visitor Centre.
Remember, you should always observe the off road code:
- Keep to rights of way - find them on a map
- Treat plants and animals with respect
- Stick to the well used track - don't cause erosion
- Close gates behind you
- Don't leave litter and keep the countryside tidy, reduce the risk of fire and the attraction of rodents.
- Check your bike is roadworthy before you set out, especially the brakes, steering and tyres.
- Always wear a riding hat.
- Be seen - it's fluorescent by day, reflective by night.
- Give way to horses and walkers when you are on shared paths and bridleways.
- Most accidents happen downhill - take care!
- Follow the Country Code
