Newhill Park
The council's Green Spaces Team and Wentworth North Area Assembly have been working in partnership with the Friends of Wath Parks to produce a master plan for Newhill Park .
A master plan is a document showing agreed development objectives over a period of time. It is an aspiration created by the needs of the local community and provides a guide for improvements. Many developments identified on plans are subject to finding external funding however having a master plan for a site shows that changes have been well thought out and meet the needs of the community they serve.
To produce the master plan a series of consultation events have been held with the local community. These included initial discussion at Wath Gala in 2008 and an open day at Campsall Fields in April 2009 which was led by the Friends Group. The plan has since been available on the internet for consultation and a final draft was displayed at this year's Wath Gala in July 2010.
The plan has been well received with many positive comments have been made and has now been formally adopted by the council.
Moving the plan forward will be heavily dependant on external funding becoming available which is something which the Friends of Wath Parks are involved in. If you are interested in joining them and getting involved with making a difference in your community please let us know by emailing urbanparks@rotherham.gov.uk or telephone us on 01709 822453.
