Sandhill Park

Sandhill park logosIn May 2010 we were approached by a group of young children who are part of a volunteers club at Rawmarsh Comprehensive School. They wanted to try and improve the appearance of Sandhill Park and invited us on a site visitwith them to look at their concerns in more detail. Following this, Wentworth South Area Assembly, The Council's Green Spaces Team and Groundwork Dearne Valley consulted local residents between 22nd June - 23rd July 2010 to seek the views of those living near to the site.

Thank you to all those who made time to take part in the consultation and shared their opinions with us. Based on the results from this we are now in the process of carrying out the following:

  • Removing the fence around the play area to improve the overall appearance.
  • Repainting the play equipment.
  • Cutting an area of grass on a regular basis during the summer months to allow informal sports to be played.
  • Providing new bins around the play area
  • Installing additional dog waste bin(s).
  • Carrying out repairs to safety surface on the play area.
  • Cutting the grass around the trim trail to improve accessibility.
  • Install one set of small 5-a-side football / hockey goalposts

Much of this work has been made possible by funding from Wentworth South Area Assembly devolved budget. If you require any further information, would like a copy of the results of the consultation or would like to share you views on the changes please contact the Wentworth South Area Assembly Office on Rotherham 336771.
