History

This popular park is situated away from the busy traffic, on the outskirts of Rotherham in Kimberworth, and provides a warm and welcoming atmosphere for its many visitors.

The 5 hectare site was purchased form the Earl of Effingham in 1925 with the aim of providing the west of Rotherham with a much needed park and recreation area. It was landscaped in the early 1930s and opened around 1938 with much of the park looking similar to the way it does today. Bradgate Park is well known for its bowling greens which have previously won national awards.

With the help of a local community group the park has seen significant investment in recent years. The park now has extensive play areas, tennis courts and a multi use games area for sports such as football, cricket and basketball.

There are also several pleasant garden areas including flowers beds, a rock garden and a sensory garden designed to stimulate the natural senses. As well as formal recreational activities, there is also an attractive area of parkland for more informal recreation. There are steep slopes leading to more level areas, which are well used for football and cricket.
