History
Coronation Park is situated in the heart of Maltby off Muglet Lane.
Covering just over 2 and a half hectares the park provides a welcoming and attractive green space for its visitors.
Named after the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II in 1953 the park was home to tennis courts, play areas and gardens. There was also once a fish pond which led to the park being locally known as 'Fish Park'. Today the park boasts 2 tennis courts, 2 bowling greens, a skate park, a new play area and a multi use games area for sports such as football, basket ball and cricket. A small pavilion is also situated in the park.
In recent years the Council has worked closely with Groundwork Dearne Valley and the Friends of Maltby Parks to deliver a wide range of improvements within the park. As well as the new facilities, there has also been a decorative mural and the introduction of wild flower areas. Groundwork Dearne Valley and the Friends Group have also held many popular events including the annual festival.
Friends of Maltby Parks
The Friends of Maltby Parks are local volunteers who dedicate their own time helping with development, day to day management of the park and with the delivery of events and activities. If you would like to become involved with the Friends of Maltby Parks, please contact us.
