The Council provides four household waste recycling centres for the recycling and disposal of waste exclusively from householders in the borough.
Please separate your waste at home to help you use the correct container on site and make it easier and quicker for yourself.
Main rules
- Once items are deposited at a household waste recycling centre, they become the property of Waste Recycling Group and must not be removed from site
- No commercial waste is accepted
- No pedestrian access is allowed
- Construction and demolition waste is restricted
- Children and animals must stay in the vehicle at all times
- Be aware of vehicle movements and people moving bulky items
Construction and Demolition Waste
Small quantities of construction/demolition waste (3 x 25kg bags max) can be taken to any of our Household Waste Recycling Centres
Building Waste from larger DIY projects will not be accepted at our Household Waste Recycling Centres, even if it is delivered to site in a van or trailer which has a valid permit
Commercial Waste
Commercial waste is defined as waste arising from any trade or business, industrial or commercial activities. Anyone who has received payment for carrying waste or produces waste from their work cannot take this waste to a household waste recycling centre.
Permits
A permit is required to use the sites for vans and for cars towing trailers. Telephone our helpline on 01709 823054.
Plasterboard
Gypsum plasterboard may not be mixed with other wastes and sent to landfill.
Plasterboard is only accepted in limited quantities (no more than will fit into the equivalent of one car boot) at Car Hill, Magilla and Lidget Lane.
Warren Vale Household Waste Recycling Centre will not accept plasterboard.
Anyone with more than one car boot equivalent volume of this type of waste should use a licensed disposal contractor. Details of these are listed on the Yell website. Many local skip hire contractors can arrange for the disposal of plasterboard.

The sites are open 362 days a year, closing only on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year's Day.
