Highway Drainage

Contact us to make a report or enquiry.

The Council maintains highway drainage systems to make sure they are safe and to stop the highway from flooding.

Gullies and grids are cleaned at least once a year. More frequent cleansing is provided where traffic use or other factors, such as principal roads, industrial areas, dictate. All road gullies are cleaned using a gully flusher vehicle in accordance with our Annual Gully Cleansing Schedule.

We also maintain highway drains, soakaways, storage pipes and flow controls. These systems are cleaned using special jetting vehicles. Excavation gangs may repair or replace highway defective drainage systems.

The service you can expect

  • We will make safe missing manhole covers or collapsed highway drains and carry out any necessary repairs;
  • Replacement highway drainage schemes are undertaken to replace and improve defective highway drainage systems.
