How to order a copy birth, death marriage or civil partnership certificate
Rotherham Register Office holds records of births, deaths marriages and civil partnerships that have taken place in Rotherham since 1837.
Certified copies of these entries, commonly known as copy certificates, can be purchased from the Register Office.
If the birth, death, marriage or civil partnership occurred in Rotherham, copy certificates can be ordered over the phone with a debit or credit card or in person at the Register Office. All fees are payable in advance.
Rotherham registration service works to the national target of producing certificates within 5 working days of the order being placed.
Once produced the certificate will be sent to you by post. You can opt to pay for first class postage if you prefer to receive your certificate sooner than by standard mail.
In exceptional circumstances certificates can be collected from the Register Office and you will receive a phone call to inform you when the certificate is ready for collection.
Rotherham Registration service is unable to offer a same day service, other than in cases of emergency. If you request a same day service you will be asked to provide evidence that the certificate is required urgently.
