We are now publishing the Arts Strategy for Rotherham. For a draft copy please email community.arts@rotherham.gov.uk
The Strategy suggested the of sub groups to support development in different areas. These are the meetings currently set for these sub groups, and the contact details should you wish to attend or contribute.
ArtNav Steering Group
The next meeting be on March 21 2012 venue TBC at 2.00 pm. Councillor Amy Rushforth will Chair. This will be followed later at 6.30pm by the spring Creative Networks! Gathering.
Funding the Strategy - Creative People and Places
ROAR is hosting regular Monday night meetings from 5.30 - 7.00 pm at their Westgate Chambers offices planning an application from Rotherham to the Creative People and Places fund, a fund offering significant amounts of resources for areas of low engagement in the arts. Anyone with an interest in supporting this initiative and application should attend or register interest with RMBC Community Arts or Matt at ROAR
Festivals, Event Venues and Exhibitions in Rotherham (FEVER)
The next meeting has been planned for March 28 2.30 pm, venue TBC. This is for any artist or group planning a festival, parade or other arts event in Rotherham , or who has an arts venue, gallery or other indoor or outdoor space that could be utilised for such events, to plan collboratiosn and avoid duplication.
School Arts Network
The first School Arts Network sub group has been organised by Faye Kamsika at Clifton, A Community Arts School April 18 from 4pm. CapeUK, the regional bridge organisation for creativity in learning will be attending, and the event will include information about Arts Mark and Arts Award. If you have or would like to have an involvement with delivery of arts in schools, or make a presentation about your work please register your attendance with Faye or RMBC Community Arts
Promoting your work
In the meantime, my window for publishing the Arts Strategy closes with the end of the financial year. If you have not already sent me a photograph illustrating your wonderful arts activities in the Borough, please send them as soon as possible. I can now also include images of your activities on the Arts pages of the Rotherham MBC website, not only to illustrate pages such as about local Dance groups, Choirs or Brass Bands, but also in a Gallery Please ensure that you have the appropriate permission to use identifiable imagery.
