There are a number of Trusts, Foundations and Lottery funding bodies nationally and locally to which groups and individual artists can apply for funds for projects and activities. Links to some of these are listed below.

Strategic Funding Organisations
Arts Council England
ACE manages a finding scheme called Grants for the Arts, to which community and arts groups and organisations as well as individual artists can apply for funds to support arts activities. Please visit the Arts Council website for details.
ACE have introduced a number of schemes for larger applcations and strategic funding. For more information on these visit their pages on Strategic Funding
A key fund for us to look at currently is the Creative People and Places fund offering significant investment for areas of low engagement in the arts, which includes Rotherham Borough.
ROAR is the local arts organsation leading on a Borough wide application to this scheme; the project and therefore the application will be made by a local consortia on behalf of affiliated groups and interested parties. Department of Culture, Media and Sport

Funding Central
This is a free website for charities, voluntary organisations and social enterprises with access to thousands of funding and finance opportunities, as well as tools and resources supporting organisations to develop sustainable income strategies appropriate to their needs. South Yorkshire Funding Advice Bureau (SYFAB)
SYFAB supports voluntary and community organisations to get the resources they need, providing advice, information and training to help local organisations become more confident and self-reliant in fundraising. They also publish a free e-newsletter on current opportunities. SYFAB regualry run free funding surgeries in the area iopen to are sessions open to any community or voluntary group. Screen Yorkshire content fund
The Screen Yorkshire Content Fund is officially open to Expressions of Interest now at Screen Yorkshire Content Fund This fund supports £15 million to invest in creative content in film, TV, games and the digital sector within Yorkshire and Humber, within Yorkshire-based companies as well as attracting productions looking to locate within the region.

Information on many of these schemes can be found on the above websites. However, here are a few of the current schemes which may be of interest to local groups and arts organisations with arts objectives or using arts as a tool for community engagement and support.
Community Music Fund opens briefly - Hurry!
The Community Music scheme will be open to existing community groups looking to reach new and wider audiences, attract new members and carry out training.
The scheme will award up to £5,000 for distinct development projects, and up to £10,000 for groups wishing to commission new music. It is hoped that this funding will encourage collaboration, and allow groups to take on more challenging work.
Online applications will open at 10am 21st May. The deadline will be when we reach 500 eligible applications OR at 5pm 29th June, whichever occurs first. We will be keeping count, so make sure you've got all your documentation in order (such as bank statements and constitutions - see the Terms & Conditions for more details).
Artists' international development fund
The Artists' international development fund will provide grants of between £1,000 to £5,000 for artists to travel, explore and collaborate internationally while carrying out professional projects. The fund aims to support artists who have carried out little or no work internationally, and is designed to help artists build on their domestic success and develop markets and audiences overseas for their work. All projects must include one or two periods spent working abroad by the artist.
There are three funding rounds in each financial year the programme will run. The deadline for applications to be received for the first funding round this year is 31 May 2012. For details visit www.artscouncil.org.uk/artistsinternational
Idlewild Trust (UK)
The Idlewild Trust is a grant making trust that supports registered charities concerned with the encouragement of excellence in the performing and fine arts and the preservation for the benefit of the public of buildings and items of historical interest or national importance. Occasionally it also supports projects that conserve the natural environment. The total funding available each year is approximately £120,000 and registered charities can apply for grants of up to £5,000. Applications are considered twice a year.
The Clore Duffield Foundation
Yhe Foundation has announced that the second funding round under its new £1 million programme to fund poetry and literature initiatives for children and young people across the UK is now open for applications. Through the programme, schools, FE colleges, community groups, libraries and other arts/cultural organisations can apply for grants of between £1,000 and £10,000 to support participatory learning projects and programmes focused on literature, poetry and creative writing for under 19s. The Loscar Wind Farm Community Funds
Wind Farm operator REG Windpower has launched two charitable funds for communities close to the site of a new development.
REG Windpower operates renewable energy plants throughout the UK , with the Loscar wind project, based at Harthill, Rotherham , generating clean electricity since 2010.The funding will support community initiatives that benefit the parishes of Harthill, Woodall, Thorpe Salvin and Wales. Through the funds, grants are available for projects and initiatives that educate, promote or implement: Sustainable use of energy and energy efficiency and resources but also community activities that benefit the residents of the defined area of benefit, fpr instance activities for older peopleor pre-school groups For details visit SYCF Small Grants Fund
Rotherham MBC Adult Learning
Metropolitan Borough Council (RMBC) have funding available for adult learning to be delivered in Rotherham community venues between March and July 2012. The funding is to provide short courses and engagement activities for adults (in the local areas within Rotherham ). The Concertina Charitable Trust Music Grants for Older People
The Concertina Charitable Trust Concertina makes grants to charitable bodies which provide musical entertainment and related activities for the elderly. The charity is particular keen to support smaller organisations which might otherwise find it difficult to gain funding. These include funds to many care homes for the elderly to provide musical entertainment for their residents. The next application deadline is the 31st October 2012.
Paul Hamlyn Foundation
The Paul Hamlyn foundation Arts Open Grants Scheme supports work that increases people's enjoyment, experience and involvement in the arts. Grants range from £5,000 to £200,000, with a rolling programe of applications.
Performing Rights Society (PRS) Beyond Borders UK-wide music
The Beyond Borders scheme supports the creation of high quality new music which is jointly commissioned by at least two (but preferably more) organisations based in different UK countries. It is now accepting applications for Beyond Borders funding from music creators, performance groups and commissioning organisations working together on exciting new projects.The John Ruskin Prize
Prince's Foundation for Children & the Arts - Start programme
The Prince's Foundation for Children & the Arts - Start programme is a grant giving programme that introduces children to a local cultural venue to experience the very best of the arts. Through Start, pupils begin to develop a lasting relationship with that venue and art form.
Healthy Communities Small Grants Programme
The Healthy Communities Small Grants Programme will make awards of between £5,000 and £10,000 to local projects which help people live longer healthier lives, and address health inequalities. The People's Health Trust are particularly keen to support grassroots activities through their small grants programme, which is currently open in 9 local society lottery areas.
The Ernest Cook Trust (UK)
The Ernest Cook Trust (UK) invites applications to one of two programes from charities, schools and not-for-profit organisations wishing to encourage young people ' s interest either in the countryside and the environment, the arts or aiming to raise levels of literacy and numeracy.
- The small grants programme (under £4,000) for state schools and small registered charities to undertake projects which meet the Trust ' s objectives and require a small amount of pump-priming in order for such projects to take place.
- The large grants programme (Grants over £4,000) is aimed at more comprehensive education programmes.
TeenBiz business start-up scheme for 13-18 year olds
TeenBiz is a business start-up scheme aimed at students aged 13 - 18. From 1 January 2012, two young people will be chosen each month to receive £500 start-up funding plus business mentoring and a start-up pack. TeenBiz is aiming to support over 100 new businesses over the next three years.
