Arts in Rotherham - Brass Bands
Rotherham 's excellent Brass Bands are keen on not only on entertaining but also in sharing their skills in Training Bands to encourage young people and beginners to take up playing, and offer a warm welcome to new members. Dinnington Colliery Band
- Details: The band, which celebrated its centenary in 2004 was featured on the BBC in March 2010 in a programme "A Band for Britain". The band have released a CD under the same name.

Maltby Miners Welfare Band
- Details: Maltby has a long history associated with Maltby Colliery and play up to 40 concerts a year as well as competing and supporting a training band.

Rotherham Town Brass Band
- Details: Previously known as the Whiston Brass Band, which was formed in 1984 and established itself in thearea by winning local competitions and performing at many prestigious events.

South Yorkshire Police Band
- Details: A traditional band who perform to support our local community but are also available on a commercial basis for more specific events. The band can also provide an heraldic fanfare team, corps of drums and marching band.

Strata Brass
- Details: Concerts and other public performances.

Thorpe Hesley Brass Band
- Details: Performs concerts but is not a competing band.
- Rehearsal venue: Holy Trinity Community Hall.
- Rehearsal times: Sundays 6.00 - 8.00pm

Thurcroft Welfare Band
- Details: Originally formed by the Miners Welfare Committee for the benefit of Thurcroft Colliers and their families, the band continues to compete and stage concerts. Their first CD, "100 Not out!" was recorded in 2010.
- Rehearsal venue: Band Room, West Street, Thurcroft.
- Rehearsal times: Tuesdays and Thursdays 7.30 - 9.30pm, Training band: Saturday morning 9.30 - 10.30am.
