Rotherham is host to a number of excellent professional and amateur Theatre companies, for all ages and abilities to take part in on stage, in the wings and in the audience. Please scroll down to see a list of some of the groups we have discovered in Rotherham in January 2011.

- ISAN, The Independent Street Arts Network ISAN is an independent group of producers, presenters, promoters and artists working in outdoor arts who develop the outdoor arts sector through networking, lobbying, information-sharing, training, research, and advocacy support and advice for members.

ITC - Independent Theatre Council The ITC is the professional body for performing arts organisations and individuals working in the field of drama, dance, opera and music theatre, mime and physical theatre, circus, puppetry, street arts and mixed media. They offer training in a variety of subjects from child protection to touring aboard.

In addition, Julie Medla, Manager of the Dearne Playhouse Theatre in Goldthorpe, is creating a website for artists and performers trying to find work. Starstruck UK can be used as an e-portforlio plus it will also enable casting agents, venues, galleries, talent scouts etc to search, view and contact .Julie is looking for people to become beta testers for the website. Cake House Theatre Group
- Details: This group was formed as an offshoot from Scope Rotherham Day Service to promote music, dancing and drama amongst adults with disabilities.

Cast Off Youth Theatre Group
- Details: Castoffs is part of Rotherham Youth Service and provides drama, dance and singing opportunities for young people from across the borough aged 13 to 25. They also run drama activities during the holidays for disabled young people aged 13 to 25 on a 'play in a day' or 'panto in a day' format.

Far Out Theatre

Gillian Banks Theatre School

Kimberworth Park Youth Theatre
- Details: Professionally taught drama workshops for 6 - 18 years old covering a wide variety of skills from improvisation, devising and script work to confidence, team work and simply having fun!

The Lyric Theatre Junior Players
- Details: This successful group formed in 2002 is for children and young people aged 5 - 16 from the villages surrounding Dinnington.
- Rehearsal Venue: The Lyric Theatre, Laughton Road , Dinnington, Sheffield

Open Minds Theatre Company
- Details: OMTC as a range of classes for different age groups exciting and lively sessions giving young people the opportunity to learn about drama, dance and singing in a fun environment and enhance their speaking, listening, performance and social skills. They also work with young people in schools and develop courses for teachers incorporating drama in teaching methods.

Stagecoach Rotherham
- Details: Quality training for four to eighteen year-olds in the disciplines of dance, drama and singing in a very safe and happy environment.

Youth Theatre
- Details: Why not join our experienced youth theatre classes and develop new performance skills and techniques. The classes are designed to encourage all to learn and enjoy together in a comfortable environment that will help you make new friends and bring out those hidden talents.
