Cultural Diversity

The Council's Community Arts team supports the Rotherham Cultural Group, (RCG) which represents many of the culturally diverse communities within Rotherham and aims to celebrate and promote their heritage through the arts, including the Cultural Diversity Festival at Rotherham Show.

This has grown over the last 7 years to become the premier multi-cultural festival within the region, where communities across Rotherham work together to stage two days of exciting music and dance, arts workshops and community stalls.

The group hosts open meetings on the first Thursday of the month from 6.30pm  at the Unity Centre in St Leonards Road, Rotherham. To get involved and suggest events, join a meeting or email community.arts@rotherham.gov.uk or call 01709 823636.  

Arts on the Run

Arts on the Run is Yorkshire and Humberside's regional network at Platforma, which is the national forum for arts & refugees. For details or to join the network email tony.bowring@artsontherun.org.uk

Kala Sangam

Kala Sangam    is a leading South Asian arts organisation in Bradford formed to increase understanding and appreciation of the cultural traditions of South Asia, whilst improving awareness of racial, cultural and social issues. They work with local and international artists to create and deliver collaborative work across the community through a programme of creative and accessible events, including performances, classes, workshops, and training courses.   For details or to be added to their email newsltter list visit Kala Sangam 

Local Projects

'One Town, One Community' Song.

Local singer-songwriter Steph Little worked with children in Rawmarsh to create a 'One Town, One Community song', supported by Open Minds Theatre. This was recorded at the Valley Recording Studio and was performed at the Diversity Festival at Rotherham show in 2010. Scroll down to hear the tune and see the words.
