Hazardous waste
The Council provides a limited household hazardous waste collection service for some everyday household items which are classified as hazardous waste.
These items may be taken to our Household Waste Recycling Centres for their disposal/recycling and include:-
- Domestic freezers
- Domestic refrigerators
- Televisions
- Computer monitors
- Fluorescent light tubes
- Small quantities of plasterboard (only available at Car Hill, Magilla, Lidget Lane )
- Gas canisters (domestic size only)
All other types of hazardous waste should be disposed of by the householder using an approved contractor, details of which can be found in local trade and telephone directories or the Yell website.
Commercial waste is not accepted at any of our Household Waste Recycling Centres.
Businesses should use the local telephone and trade directories or the Yell website to find an approved contractor to dispose of commercial/hazardous waste from their business.
