Junk Mail Reduction

Photo of junk mail in letter box

About 21 billion items of unwanted junk mail, excluding free newspapers, are sent every year in the UK.

This is 550,000 tonnes of waste!

This includes:

  • direct mail - advertising messages individually addressed;
  • door to door - unaddressed advertisements posted by hand;
  • inserts - advertising material in magazines and newspapers.

Many Rotherham householders who prefer not to receive such mail can register with the Mailing Preference Service (MPS).

Stickers are also available that can be placed by householders on their door or letter box to discourage leaflets, free newspapers or un-addressed mail being delivered.

Visit the Mailing Preference Service and register online.

If you would like a door sticker stating No Junk Mail, or further information, please contact us.
