Local development framework

The Local Development Framework will provide a long-term development strategy for Rotherham, setting out policies and proposals for new housing, shopping and employment, and how you travel around and about the borough.

The Local Development Framework will eventually replace the existing Unitary Development Plan and will help to streamline the local planning process and promote a proactive & positive approach to managing development. It will help the Council decide on planning applications and promote Rotherham's continued regeneration whilst protecting and enhancing the natural environment.

News

Following on from the consultation on the Core Strategy Revised Options we have produced an Interim Feedback Report that comprises the notes of all workshops, focus groups, public meetings and drop-in sessions held throughout last summer to discuss the Core Strategy.

A hard copy of the report for reference will be available at the following libraries: Rotherham Town Centre, Dinnington, Wath, Maltby, Swinton, Rawmarsh, Kiveton Park, Wickersley, Greasbrough, Kimberworth and Kimberworth Park.

All comments submitted in writing to the Council during the consultation period can now be viewed on our  LDF Consultation Portal. The final feedback report will also be published on our website when it is available.

A detailed response to the comments received will not be available until the Final Feedback Report is published later this year.  We are currently considering all of the submitted comments and will be selecting an option (or a hybrid option) to decide what development should go where.  We will be consulting again during 2010 on the Core Strategy and the potential sites for future development.

Hard copies of the Interim Feedback Report can be made available for a charge covering printing and postage costs by  contacting us.

We have produced a short information film on the planning system, the film outlines how we guide development in the borough, what the LDF will cover and how it links to the Community Strategy. DVD copies of the film are available free of charge. You can play or download the film from the link below.
