Joint Waste Plan

Barnsley, Doncaster & Rotherham Joint Waste Plan Submission

Barnsley, Doncaster and Rotherham councils are working together to prepare the Joint Waste Plan.

The Joint Waste Plan sets out our planning strategy for dealing with waste, including the provision of new waste facilities, up until 2026.

The Joint Waste Plan provides the framework to guide and assess waste management proposals and will allocate suitable sites to manage different types of waste across the three boroughs. Once adopted it will form part of each borough's development plan - the Local Development Framework.

Submission

The Joint Waste Plan was submitted to the secretary of state on the 29th July 2011 to undergo an independent public examination. The public examination will consider the soundness of the Joint Waste Plan and the representations received during the six-week publication stage between April and May 2011.

Mr Jonathan George King BA(Hons) Dip TP MRTPI has been appointed to conduct the public examination. He will examine the representations received during the publication stage and prepare a report following the public examination. The recommendations of the report are binding and may require us to make changes before the Joint Waste Plan can be adopted.
