Mutual housing exchange

The Council's Mutual Exchange scheme has changed. If you are currently registered on the old system, you will need to re-register at Home Swapper.

The Council has funded this service to enable its tenants to register free of charge. Registration can be carried out at www.homeswapper.co.uk and remember, if you are a Rotherham Council tenant, the service is absolutely free.

Once you have registered, you will be able to log on securely and view any matches. Homeswapper will also email you at regular intervals with details of suitable exchange partners based on your registration criteria. If you do not have access  to the internet, Homeswapper will send details of suitable exchange partners via your mobile telephone.

Please register your exchange details with Home Swapper as soon as possible.

If a move is mutually agreed, both parties involved must contact their local housing office and notify them of your intention to exchange. Please use our application form.

Permission to exchange is made at the discretion of your local Housing Office. The actual physical exchange of the property can only take place once the Neighbourhood Office has confirmed and verified their approval to proceed.

If you are a Housing Association or Council tenant living outside the Rotherham borough, you can still make an exchange but you will need to contact your own local housing office for permission. Once your exchange has been agreed you will be asked to register.
