General Customer Feedback

SCUK Mentoring Sports Coaches Workshop - 10th May 2010 - "I would just like to record how impressed I am with Rotherham MBC as a partner. Everything was in place, from the confirming phone call to ample refreshments to motivated, well briefed delegates. This is not always the case so thank you, Owen, it was much appreciated. Pleasure doing business with you both" Mick Owen, Sports Coach UK Tutor.

Mega Active Summer Thank you Letters

"My daughter is seveteen and has downs syndrome, she has really enjoyed the various games and sports, the young men and women who have organised and led the activities are a real credit to the community and RMBC, your coaches have been well organised, friendly and creative" Parent of a Mega Active Ability Participant.

"I am writing this letter on behalf of my Children, thanking you for all your hard work and effort which was put into the sports camp sessions at Harthill, they both had a fantastic week...we hope you will be coming back to do another camp."Parent of a Mega Active Participant.

Active Always Walking Club- " Just to say I really enjoyed the lunchtime walking club - I nearly did not go as the weather was not promising, but as soon as we were walking I soon warmed up, and it really freshened me up for the afternoon! I am always saying I should go for a lunchtime walk, but never make the effort - having an 'appointment' made sure that I went. It was great to have an escort too, Thanks again" Walking Club Member

We wanted to share infromation about Rotherham that we have found from research, surveys and evaluations.

The Active People Survey

The Active People survey is the largest ever survey of sport and active recreation to be undertaken in Europe.

Active People Survey 3 (2008/9) began on 15 October 2008 and was completed on 14 October 2009. You can see the results here.

On 15 October 2009, (2009/10) started. Active People Survey 4 results can be found at .Active People Survey 4

The survey provides by far the largest sample size ever established for a sport and recreation survey and allows levels of detailed analysis previously unavailable. It identifies how participation varies from place to place and between different groups in the population.

The survey also measures; the proportion of the adult population that volunteer in sport on a weekly basis, club membership, involvement in organised sport/competition, receipt of tuition or coaching, and overall satisfaction with levels of sporting provision in the local community.

The questionnaire was designed to enable analysis of the findings by a broad range of demographic information, such as gender, social class, ethnicity, household structure, age and disability.

The Active People Survey also provides the measurement for National Indicator 8 (NI8) - adult participation in sport and active recreation. The survey also provides the measure for the cultural indicators NI9, 10 and 11.

The first year of the survey, Active People Survey 1, was conducted between October 2005 and October 2006, and was a telephone survey of 363,724 adults in England (aged 16 plus) and is unique in providing reliable statistics on participation in sport and active recreation for all 354 local authorities in England (a minimum of 1,000 interviews were completed in every local authority in England)
