Have your say on public art feature
Published Wednesday 24th February 10
Now is the time for the people of Dinnington to have their say about a well-known local landmark on a traffic roundabout.
A series of consultation workshop events are to be held in the Dinnington area to discuss the existing 'pit wheel' sited on the Monksbridge roundabout.
The Council is holding the events following recent debate among members of the local community about the suitability of the 'pit wheel' feature.
The authority wants to establish what people really think and, if opinion is that the existing wheel should be replaced, what they might wish to see in its place!
Community artist Chris Campbell of Campbell Designs Ltd. will work with school children and the local history society as well as members of the public through the open workshops when local people can express their ideas and get involved.
The open public workshops will be held at:
- the Dinnington Resource Centre on Thursday, February 25, from 12 noon to 1pm
- St Joseph's Community Room, Joseph's Court, Dinnington, on Saturday, March 6, from 10 am to 12 noon
- Monksbridge Community Hall, Monksbridge Road, Laughton Common, on Saturday, March 6, from 1 pm to 3pm.
Campbell Design Ltd. will produce a number of draft designs to use for further consultation should funding become available in the future.
Local Dinnington Ward Councillor, Jacquie Falvey, urged local residents to attend the workshops and give their views.
She added: "This issue seems to have provoked a great deal of debate across the area and so it seems right that we try to get as many views as possible.
"These consultation events will provide the perfect opportunity for the public to express their own opinions so I would urge them to attend if they can."
