Rotherham’s Clifton Park Museum has joined forces with the University of Sheffield to offer a free taster course for adults thinking of returning to education.

Aimed at adults who haven’t been at university, but are interested in further education, Discover is an award-winning short course which will run this June at Clifton Park Museum.

Course participants can find out what it’s like to study at university through informal learning activities, get support and advice on returning to education and explore the collections at Clifton Park Museum.

Rotherham Council’s Assistant Director for Culture, Tourism and Sport, Polly Hamilton, said: “For those adults who always wanted to go to university but who didn’t get the chance, or who are interested in getting back to learning, this course is an ideal opportunity to find out more.

“Clifton Park Museum has a wealth of fascinating exhibits in its collections so anyone taking part is sure to find the experience both interesting and informative,” she added.

Dr Willy Kitchen, Head of Department for Lifelong Learning, University of Sheffield, said: “The University of Sheffield's Department for Lifelong Learning has a long history of supporting local adults to return to education, and many of them have begun their journey on the Discover Course.

“We are delighted to now be working with Clifton Park Museum to bring this award-winning course to Rotherham. This partnership has allowed us to further develop our reach and reflects the University's commitment to the local region. We are really looking forward to welcoming participants to what promises to be a stimulating, informative and, above all, enjoyable course.”

Starting on 6 June at 10am, the course will run every Tuesday for six weeks. To find out more or enrol:
