Rotherham resident wins big with Your AccountPublished Tuesday, 13th May 2014
One local resident has won big, and simplified her life, thanks to a new online feature offered by the Council.
The Council launched their new online service "Your Account" in December and offered one lucky resident who signed up the opportunity to win a new iPad mini, donated by Gandlake Ltd, the technology company which supports "Your Account".
Winner Emmeline Samoluk of Wath-upon-Dearne, was one of over 6,000 customers who registered for the service, and was told of her lucky win by Council Project Manager Rob Savage.
When she collected her prize Emmeline said: "I was absolutely thrilled when I received the call from Rob telling me I had won the iPad.
"I was in shock at first because I have never genuinely won anything and this was a fantastic prize. I have told all my family, friends and colleagues at work and will be getting them to use this great service."
When asked how she found out about "Your Account" Emmeline added: "I was on the Council website looking for information about my Council Tax and saw that I could register for an online account.
"This is always something that I look out for because I find accessing services online easier and available 24/7 which helps me strike the balance between home life and work.
"Your Account meets all my expectations and I can do everything I want to in relation to my Council Tax. I no longer have to use my lunch breaks to phone the Council about any questions I have and I can check to see when my payments are due and ensure they are paid from the comfort of my own home.
"If I need to check at one o'clock in the morning I can do it now; the service is great and I would highly recommend it to everyone, even those who are a little apprehensive about online services, it is that simple."
John Gandley, Gandlake's Managing Director, added: "The team at Rotherham have been doing a fantastic job promoting the new online service.
"Over 6,000 registrations in such a short space of time demonstrates just how popular the web has become for residents who want to access local government services."
Your Account is similar to online banking and allows customers to see the payments that have been made to their Council Tax, Benefits and Business Rates accounts, view their balances, make changes to their account details and get updates via email instead of post.
Customers will soon be able to access even more services via "Your Account", including joining the Library, downloading free e-books and renewing library books.
There will also be more chances to win some fantastic prizes when you register for Your Account. You can find out more and register for "Your Account" here on the website.
