Christmas family fun at Clifton Park Museum and Boston CastlePublished Monday, 27th November 2017
Clifton Park Museum and Boston Castle have Christmas all wrapped up with fun festive events.
Clifton Park Museum has a number of events happening over the Christmas period. Come along on Saturday 9 December for the Twelve Days of Christmas event, a day of festive fun for the whole family including Christmas carols performed by a local children’s choir. Activities include festive treats cooked in the Museum’s Victorian Kitchen, plus children’s crafts for three to eleven years, including ‘angel making’. Craft-making costs £2.50. No booking is required and drop in anytime between 11am and 4pm. Visit Father Christmas and receive a special present for £5 per child.
On the same date, adults can make their own Christmas wreaths at one of the museum’s workshops. Workshops take place from 10am until 1pm, and 2pm until 5pm. Tickets cost £18 per person and includes all materials, a hot drink and a mince pie or, for an extra £4, enjoy a glass of prosecco. Places must be booked in advance.
On Tuesday 12 December, little ones can join in with the festivities with the museum’s very special toddler Christmas craft workshop. Let your little ones have fun with paint, sticking and gluing as they make their own little Christmas decorations. Suitable for children aged one to four-years-old. Workshops run from 10.30am until 12 noon and from 1pm until 2.30pm. The event costs £2.50 per child and places must be booked in advance.
On Wednesday 13 December step back in time and join the museum’s servants on a tour of Clifton House as they prepare it for Christmas Day. Come and discover who lived at the House, enjoy some tasty Victorian delights and take a look at the history behind some of our most loved festive traditions. The event costs £12.50 and includes Victorian inspired refreshments and the chance to make and take home a Christmas cracker. Tours start at 6pm, 7pm and 8pm and places must be booked in advance.
On Sunday 10 December, Boston Castle will also host seasonal craft activities, suitable for three to eleven-year-olds. After the craft activities have finished, visitors can have fun following the festive trail around the castle. Craft making costs £2.50 per child and you can drop in anytime between 11am and 3pm. No booking required.
Rotherham Council’s Cabinet Member for Neighbourhood Working and Cultural Services Cllr Taiba Yasseen said: “We are very lucky we have two beautiful historical locations in which to host these very special Christmas events and I would encourage anyone to come along and take part in the seasonal activities to get you into the festive spirit.”
Or alternatively, visit into the museum in person to book a place.
