Enjoy Rotherham at it's best
Published Wednesday 28th April 10
Early birds are being invited to witness Rotherham at its best with a very special early morning walk around one of the borough’s hidden green gems.
Grange Park, on Droppingwell Road in Kimberworth, will be hosting "The International Song" event at 5am on Sunday, May 2, when Green Spaces Officers from the Council - joined by an expert guide - will be identifying the many hidden residents by their morning song as the sun rises through the woodland.
Green Spaces Officer, Nicola Jones, said: "It may be surprising to those who like their lie-ins, but these Dawn Chorus walks are always very popular.
"The park looks and feels so different at that time in the morning and it's always a treat to see the world come to life while you are surrounded by all the wildlife.
"Set your alarm, tune in your ears, grab those binoculars and come and join us to celebrate International Dawn Chorus Day in the beauty of this wonderful park. Weather permitting, we will round off the adventure with a warm drink and bacon butty!"
Anyone who wants to take part in the free two-mile walk is asked to meet in the car park off Droppingwell Road, near Millmoor Juniors football club.
Good footwear and warm clothing are recommended, binoculars are welcome if you have them.
To book your place, please contact the Green Spaces team on 01709 822453.
